Problem: The MTA, New York City's transportation system, currently faces budgeting shortfalls, infrastructure issues, low ridership rates, negative PR and frequent fare evasion. In 2024, it is estimated that 10% of subway riders evaded fares, making much needed improvements harder to fund.
Solution: Tap Mobile, a partnership between T-Mobile and the MTA, that rewards riders who pay their fare with a code to access wifi throughout the subway system and various hot spots in the city.
