Problem: According to the NYC Dept of Health, "every four hours, someone dies of an overdose in New York City." Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid drug that is 50 times more potent than heroin, is the the most common cause. However, opioid-involved deaths are preventable and can be reversed using the medication naloxone (Narcan). Unfortunately, Narcan, and simple information on how to use it, is not widely available.
Solution: A city-wide mandate to establish permanent Nar(Care) booths at the city's largest nightlife venues, including Avant Gardner, an 80,000 square foot club in Williamsburg.
